Don’t recognize this property?  This is the infamous fake house that was making the rounds in the media a couple of months ago as the most expensive home in Canada complete with fake gold pictures that were passed off as being the current property which happens to be an old home.  They were exposed in the blogosphere and ridiculed and the realtor denied any wrong doing, quickly tried to edit and remove pictures and the media conveniently forgot about it.  The Whispers Blog had the full story, here is a link to catch you up:

I wonder if there will be a followup story in the media about the biggest asking price drop in Canadian history for a residential sale?  $18 million and counting.  What has also been dropped are the fake house pictures and realtor Laura McLaren who was the master mind of this debacle.

The owners paid $8 million for this home a year ago and 9 months later relist it for 60% and $4.8 million more…  With this $3.5 million drop they would still make a nice profit but this is most likely a case where excessive greed is going to put a multi million dollar dent into their net worth by the time this is sold and that puts a smile on my face.

If I Lost a Million Dollars – July 14, 2012

It has been about a month since the last time I showed the list of the properties that have dropped the largest amount in $ since early March.  Back then it took a $1.6 million to make the list and the combined drop of the 10 listings was $23,471,000.  This time around the minimum drop is now $1,601,000 (a gain of a whopping $1,000!) and the total was raised about a million to $24,454,000.

We have just one new property on the list coming in at 10th spot (our first apartment listing) but the #2 entry from last month has taken a commanding lead by dropping close to another million at $3,982,000 overall in price drops which is also a 31% drop from its march price.  The other 8 listings had no change in price or availability
